Transportation Studies Examined

Current methods for predicting future transport requirements in towns and planning appropriate new facilities are briefly described and criticised. There is mention of the danger of using American methods in European situations. The requirements of an urban transport study are discussed in terms of land use, environment, flexibility, operating costs and criteria for evaluation. The author discusses also the need to examine alternative kinds of transport systems and ways of controlling them. An alternative method is proposed.
